In the mid 1990s, the disease was renamed as ADHD, to include the hyperactivity symptom, along with the attention deficit symptoms. It is only in the past few years that the disease has received wide spread awareness and recognition. It is surprising to note that even in the present times, many people get misdiagnosed or worse, not get diagnosed at all. There are some contemporary Famous people with ADHD; some even undiagnosed. It is not so easy to determine ADHD in olden day celebrities because, the disease was not known to the world and the celebrities could not put a name to their ailment. How do people with ADHD cope with the ailment?

ADHD is an ailment that is difficult to diagnose. It is also not a disease that can be effectively rectified with medication alone. There are many aspects to this ailment and most of it is related to psychological and behavioral diagnosis and treatment. Very little medication is involved with the treatment and even that is only to control extreme behavioral traits. People with ADHD cannot be cured of this ailment completely. The disease can be controlled and people with ADHD can be trained to cope with the ailment and also to minimize the effects of the disease. ADHD is easier to control if the treatment is started during the early stages but it is difficult to diagnose this disease in children. The symptoms are similar to regular behavioral traits of children and so, they are easily misconstrued.
